Simultaneous Improvement of Strength, Ductility and Damping Capacity of Single ?-Phase Mg–Li–Al–Zn Alloys

Body-centered cubic (BCC) Mg–Li alloy can be effectively strengthened by with the addition of Al and Zn. However, adding excessive amounts result in reduced mechanical properties damping capacity during subsequent heat treatment deformation. The effects solution-hot rolling-aging on LAZ1333 LAZ1366 were studied. solid solution strengthening greatly increases hardness alloy, but ductility is extremely poor. AlLi softening phase precipitated hot rolling aging process improves excess precipitation Zn element are not conducive to substantial improvement strength alloy. Excessive alloying elements detrimental significantly improved depleting number solute atoms through ageing treatments. UTS FE as-cast LAZ 1333 111 MPa 16.9%, respectively. as-aged has best capacity, increased 65.8% 89.3%, respectively, compared from 0.011 0.015.
